The Princess and The Pedialyte
Disclosure: I have been compensated by Pedialyte for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own. A few weeks back I got an email letting me know my girl had spiked a 102 degree fever at school. I don't even know how I got out of the house so fast, y'all. I picked up, brought her home and settled her in for some recovery time.
We got her set up with some soup but her tummy was not well and before we could make it to the doctor's office for a sick visit, we got the pukes. Have you had vomit in your hands? No? Yeah, it's not a pretty site. Even worse than that? Having a scared kid who gets freaked out when she pukes.
For about 5 days we were in "get well mode" it included a lot of temperature checking to make sure that we didn't spike. She's past the age of 5 and while we have prayed that her febrile seizures are gone, I haven't completely let go of the stress that's accompanied every illness she's had since her first.
It's so important for me to keep her hydrated while she's sick. She's a water drinker but when she's sick it's harder for me to get her liquids. This time she said the water tasted bad. My pediatrician always recommends that we keep Pedialyte on hand and I do.
Not just for the fever but any time you have diarrhea or vomiting, you risk dehydration. I'd rather err on the side of caution and keep Pedialyte on hand right along with ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
One quick trip to the baby section at Walmart and I am stocked up and ready for snuggles, movies and a girl feeling better.
This time around it was a virus so my job was really keeping her comfortable, fever-free and hydrated. I didn't get her fever-free til day 4 but was able to give her the electrolyte solution to help.
Right now you can stock up and get $2.00 off any 2 one-liter bottles with this Ibotta offer! Getchu some!
I also like to have the pops on hand. It's a quick treat that serves to cool her down and keep her hydrated. Win-win, people! Do you worry about keeping the kiddos hydrated when they're sick?
