After twelve years I’ve become a pretty great captain on the seas of grief. But damn if I still don’t miss you like the day you left me sitting on your bed after that last breath.

As has been the custom in the last few years, I’ve selected my word and anchors. This year though, there are acknowledgements that must be made and decisions that must be acted upon beyond the selection of words that will punctuate the journey in 2023.

I remember being so geeked about working with the American Academy of Pediatrics and learning about ACE's (Adverse Childhood Experiences). It gave me a new vocabulary to discuss some of what I'd experienced and what I've seen in a cross section of society and my community at large.
