Paying It Forward and Saying Thanks, Baby!
Disclosure: this is a sponsored post. All thoughts, opinions and possible tears, are purely my own. I've been running around like a chicken with her head cut off ever since the beginning of May. I was on a mission to track someone down.
That someone was Ms. Johanna, one of the teachers at my daughter's school. She was expecting her second baby. When I heard about the #ThanksBaby campaign, she immediately came to mind.
This was all supposed to unfold beautifully Mother's Day week. Up until then, I'd meticulously operated a recon mission whereby I carefully pulled information out of her in the carpool line. I had it all figured out!
What I didn't account for was preeclampsia that had Ms. Johanna off school grounds the same week I'd planned on springing this on her.
And why did I want to spring this on her? Ms. Johanna is a sweet Mami anxiously expecting her second child, a boy. She won't be returning to work after she delivers. You guys know how it is when you have two littles at home.
Right up until she was ordered to take her pregnant butt home, Ms. Johanna ran behind the smallest of the babies at the school. The two and three-year olds. She was patient with them and handled them as she would her own.
For those of us that have to ship our hearts off to daycare and preschool, Ms. Johanna is all that we hope to find. A caring person that is equal parts stern, loving, patient and kind.
I hoped to pay the blessing forward and thankfully, I had Pampers on my side. So off I went down the rabbit hole of Facebook. Just as I was going to give up, I got connected!
Papi used to always say that babies are born with a loaf of bread under their arm. Meaning that with the baby come the blessings.
This #ThanksBaby grant allowed me to get all the things Ms. Johanna had put on her baby registry and of course, a few things she'd forgotten like...diapers!
I had 5 baby showers when I had the Frog Princess. I had the great fortune of having family, colleagues and friends bestow all those blessings upon us. Looking for a way to repay it has become my hobby. For a Mami who is from the same country I was born in, whose family is not close by, it was the least I could do.
She has made life better for baby by caring for them while we are off to work. I'm deeply appreciative of the work that she has done and I'm beyond humbled to work with a brand like Pampers who gets it and is so open to allowing this baby board to bless others.
